Meet Our Staff...

Michael Belote, Esquire

Michael Belote is a legislative advocate and partner with the firm of California Advocates, Inc. His responsibilities include representing a variety of association and corporate clients before the California Legislature and providing counsel to clients on legislative and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining California Advocates, Mr. Belote was Vice President-Legislative Counsel for the California Land Title Association working on issues such as insurance regulation, escrow procedures, foreclosure and others. He has also served as the Legislative Advocate for the California Association of Realtors. Mr. Belote’s career also includes representation of certified public accountants in Sacramento.

Mr. Belote is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and the McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento.

Jennifer Blevins, CMP

Jennifer Blevins joined CAMS in February, 1994 and currently serves as the Director of Management Services and Director of Meetings and Conventions. Ms. Blevins also serves as the Executive Director of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada and oversees other client activity.

With over nineteen years of experience in multi-association management, Ms. Blevins has managed fourteen associations, including trade associations, professional organizations, and specialty medical societies. Prior to joining CAMS, Ms. Blevins served as the Membership Coordinator and Meeting Coordinator for several medical specialty societies. Ms. Blevins’ expertise lies in the areas of: executive leadership, meeting, convention and trade show management; membership administration and marketing; affinity program management; chapter relations; database management; publications; education and certification programs; and board and committee coordination.

Ms. Blevins has played an integral role in the formation of new associations and also in the management transition of staff-driven associations to contract management programs.

Ms. Blevins earned her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in June, 1998. Ms. Blevins is a member of Meeting Professionals International, Meeting Professionals International/Sacramento Chapter, American Society of Association Executives, and the California Society of Association Executives. Ms. Blevins plans to sit for the Certified Association Executive (CAE) Exam in the near future.

Tricia Schrum, CPA

Tricia Schrum has been employed with CAMS since September, 1997 and currently serves as the Accountant for the firm and for the current client base.

Ms. Schrum has over eight years experience in accounting, including experience in public accounting. During her tenure with a public accounting firm, she handled financial statement preparation and tax work for Sutter Surgery Centers and various dental offices. Ms. Schrum has planned, executed and completed school district and HUD audits, prepared audit reports, and prepared tax returns for exempt organizations, corporations, S Corporations, partnerships and individuals. Ms. Schrum’s current responsibilities include all accounting functions as outlined in our menu of services. In addition, Ms. Schrum is an expert in streamlining accounting duties, organizing accounting records, and evaluating and analyzing data.

Ms. Schrum earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in 1998. Ms. Schrum has a Bachelor of Science Degree from California State University Sacramento with a concentration in Accountancy.

Sandra Giarde

Sandra has been with CAMS since February, 2000 and currently serves as an Account Executive. Additionally, Ms. Giarde serves as the Executive Director of the California Cleaners Association.

In her capacity, Ms. Giarde works with various associations in the areas of executive leadership; public relations; membership recruitment/retention programs; meeting, convention and trade show management; membership administration and marketing; database management; publications; education; grass roots advocacy and board and committee coordination. Additionally, Ms. Giarde is the primary CAMS manager involved in the management of the Western Lodging Show.

Ms. Giarde has played a vital role in the launch of the Western Lodging Show ™; assisting with the organization and planning of Fabricare ™; development of a peer review program used to certify outstanding dry cleaner operations; and the organization of a grass roots based, small business owner protest which included over 700 business owners and was covered by local and national television media.

Prior to joining CAMS, Ms. Giarde worked in the California State Legislature and as a private political consultant where she assisted her clients with strategic planning, grass roots outreach and research. Ms. Giarde holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California at Riverside. She is also a member of CLAE (Cleaners and Launderers Association Executives).

Stephanie Schoen

Stephanie joined the CAMS team in February, 1997 as an Account Executive.

Ms. Schoen serves as the Show Manager for the Fabricare ™ Trade Show and assists in the areas of project management and conference and trade show planning. Ms. Schoen has over fourteen years of experience in association work in the areas of: executive leadership; board and committee coordination; membership administration; database management; advertising management; and managing trade shows ranging from 10 to 800 exhibitors.

John Berkowitz

John joined the CAMS team in February, 2001. Mr. Berkowitz currently serves as the Publications Director/Graphic Designer.

Mr. Berkowitz has over seven years experience in marketing and advertising, including extensive hands-on design, production, and pre-press. Areas of expertise include full color, two-color and single color print advertising and newsletter production, ad copy, event promotion, logo design, graphic design, and copy writing.
Mr. Berkowitz’ responsibilities include in-house layout and design of all printed matter, including magazines; newsletters; meeting brochures; membership brochures; flyers; banners; signs; letterhead; directories, logos, display ads, forms, etc. Mr. Berkowitz uses an extensive repertoire of design tools and design elements, including illustrations and stock photography, as well as the latest software and equipment. Mr. Berkowitz has a proven track-record of meeting strict deadlines, working with association representatives, and translating ideas into print within budget guidelines.

The success of Mr. Berkowitz while at CAMS includes major transformation of magazines and newsletters, from primarily text driven materials to more state-of-the art, creative, and user-friendly publications. Mr. Berkowitz is a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.

Kim Ingersoll

Kim joined CAMS in June, 2004 as an Administrative Assistant.

Ms. Ingersoll assists the staff with many different clerical tasks, including answering phones, computer data entry, on-line requests, sales orders, inventory, and credit card payment processing for our associations.

Ms. Ingersoll also coordinates all components of association advertising programs, including managing databases, preparing material, proofing publications, communicating with existing and prospective advertisers, invoicing, etc.

Ms. Ingersoll has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies and a Minor in Business Administration.
